Verteks Consulting Awarded $500,000 3Com Networking Project

Jacksonville University selects Verteks Consulting to install a campus-wide 3Com Gigabit Ethernet network.

Ocala, FL — 16 April 2008 — Verteks Consulting is pleased to announce it has been awarded a project to upgrade the campus-wide network at Jacksonville University to Gigabit Ethernet using 3Com equipment. As the recipient of this award, Verteks Consulting will provide all networking equipment, centralized management software, extended warranties and service agreements for four years, and network installation and configuration services.

Verteks Consulting and 3Com were selected in a competitive bidding process that included every top-tier networking equipment provider. “We’re very happy to have won this project and can’t wait to get started.” said Don Gulling, president of Verteks Consulting. “This project is a major network upgrade for Jacksonville University and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be selected as their partner for this important project.”

The equipment selected for the project includes 3Com’s 4500G series of Gigabit switches. Jacksonville University will use a mix of 24-port, 48-port, 24-port with Power over Ethernet and 48-port with Power over Ethernet switches. At the network core, Verteks Consulting will install a 3Com S7900E high-end modular switch with redundant power and redundant switch fabrics. The equipment will provide Gigabit Ethernet networking to users in 49 buildings – a total of nearly 7,000 network ports.

As part of the project, Verteks Consulting’s engineers will provide all configuration and installation services for the upgrade.

“Jacksonville University wants to have the entire project completed before students return to school in the fall, so we’ll need to move very quickly to complete the project on time,” said Don Gulling. “We plan to begin installation no later than mid-May and expect to complete the installation no later than June 27.”
