For Christmas this year, Verteks is helping to support the “Joy For All Gift Drive” benefiting the teens and tweens in foster care in Marion county and surrounding areas.
There are almost 1,000 teens and tweens in foster care in our community – these kids are often placed in homes with meager incomes, and in some cases these kids don’t have much of a Christmas to speak of. Most of them won't have a loving mom or dad to give them a great Christmas, and the foster parents do their best, but with strained finances these kids often get very little.
Everyone loves to give toys for cuddly little kids – dolls, legos, etc – but teens and tweens aren’t as “warm and cuddly” as the little ones, so they often go without.
Our Joy For All Gift Drive is *exclusively* for teens and tweens in foster care, and only for those children who are supervised by Kids Central – so we are confident these are the most needy and under-served kids in our area.
Gift ideas for teens and tweens: Gift cards (Target, Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, BestBuy, Visa), Movie passes, sports equipment, art supplies, jewelry, lotion and body wash sets, earbuds / headphones.
