A successful three- to five-year IT roadmap aligns technology investments with long-term business strategy. It transitions IT from a reactive cost center into a proactive driver of business growth, balancing immediate stabilization with future scalability.
IT frameworks are often structured for large enterprises. Building a three- to five-year IT roadmap for a small to midsize business (SMB) requires a fundamentally different approach. For SMBs, the focus should be on maximizing cash flow, reducing operational complexity and maintaining agility without the luxury of a dedicated IT team.
It doesn’t require advanced IT expertise to create an IT strategy. The following framework can guide nontechnical business leaders through the development of an actionable, high-impact IT roadmap.
Focus on Right-Sizing Costs
